All-time World Cup top scorers

Pele scored more than a thousand goals in his professional career and his magical scoring touch never let him down at the World Cups.
In the 1958 edition as a 17-year-old, Pele scored six goals in four matches, including a hat-trick against France in the semi-final and a brace against Sweden in the final, becoming the youngster-ever footballer to achieve those two feats.

At the 1962 World Cup, Pele scored against Mexico in Brazil's first game before an injury against Czechoslovakia ruled him out for the remainder of the tournament. The 1966 World Cup was again a disappointing one for Pele. Brazil got knocked out in the group stage, while the attacker managed to find the back of the net just once, albeit it was mainly owing to the horrendous fouling by the Bulgarian and Portuguese players on him.
Four years later, Pele returned with a bang, scoring four goals, including in the final against Italy.
